Forte dei Marmi, Italy

Beach, Forte dei Marmi, Italy

Forte dei Marmi is a world-renowned seaside resort on Italy’s Tyrrhenian coast, close to the port from which the marble of the Apuan Alps was transported by sea from the beginning of the 16th century. In the 18th century, Leopold I built a small fortress around the harbor designed to protect it. The remains of that building, which gives its name to the town ("fortress of marble"), is open to visitors to this day.

Every year thousands of tourists from all over the world visit Forte dei Marmi, including many diplomats, artists, famous actors and celebrities of all kinds. It is no coincidence that at the beginning of the 21st century, this resort town was dubbed "Patria dei VIP – Home of the VIP", making it a place of excellence for an unforgettable vacation.

The crystal-clear sea and pristine beaches are not the only drawcards of this magnificent place. Tourists visiting the town can enjoy the famous fair and musical festivals in honor of St. Ermete and St. Francis, the antiques market and the weekly markets in Piazza Marconi and Vittoria Apuana. Forte dei Marmi has a rich history, and is renowned for its magnificent hotels, famous nightclubs and luxury shopping. You can learn more by browsing the relevant sections of this site.
